I've got a couple suggestions for future updates:
1. Some kind of timestamps in the chat log, so that in some way they can match up with the time since death you find on a body, so if someone says I'm with XXX! 3 minutes ago, and their body is there 2 minutes and 57 seconds dead, then you know who to suspect.
2. Detectives able to buy normal weapons. Theres many a time when I join a server with a map I've never been on, immediately everyone scatters and grabs all the weapons, and then I get detective, and get killed within seconds.
Thanks!

I haven't played this game in ages. Now that finals are over, though, I'm probably going to head back.

This would have a huge effect on balance, hurting traitors really badly.

All of the detective's equipment is geared to the benefit of the innocent "team" (often providing information), rather than his own. He doesn't have body armour available for that same reason. Guns are similar to armour in that respect, only increasing the detective's chances of survival.
If the innocent know what's good for them, you should be able to mooch a gun off of them, even if it's only a pistol.
So it's not something I'm planning. It would be pretty easy to mod in though.

It really sucks that nobody is playing Downtown anymore. The Ice Cave switched to it yesterday, only to recieve a lot of RTVs.

It does have its faults. The fog/lighting is kinda unappealing (even just grey fog would help), and there's a lot of camping spots that could do with some extra entrances.

Yeah I know you're right, it just takes like 2 days to compile though....
1200+ hours in Source SDK, and the Source engine is still a mystery.

Hmm, I might take you up on that, but be warned, zm_downtown_v1 has a tendency to devour your computer's processor, chew it up, spit it out, and then desecrate its remains when compiling.

Also you know if you don't wanna recompile the lighting or vvis, you can just change the bsp and then hit no on the other 2 for recompile and only recompile the bsp.
of course I don't recommend huge changes, and theres a chance for errors, but it works both ways, you can skip the bsp compile and do only the lighting and vvis if you don't change map geometry.
so if you wanted to change just the fog, you don't have to run all 3 compilers, you could just run the .bsp one and keep the same vrad and vvis compile from before.

There's a gmod update out with some Lua-related changes. TTT v280410 should not produce issues, older versions most likely will as there was a breaking change in SWEPs to do with third person animations. There might be other bad stuff due to changes I don't know about. I'll do some testing of my own tomorrow.
edit:
Apparently there are some bugs in the gmod update itself. You might want to refrain from updating your server for the time being.

Thanks for the quick feedback post, was wondering if I screwed something up server side regarding the latest TTT seeing as there are issues with the animations.

Good times.
Oh god I just read the entire 40 something pages of that thread...
Well I now know the history of TTT... From drama-inducing manual ZM "gamemode" to what it is now.
Plus the Gmod update apparently breaks ULX in some cases, so anyone who uses that might want to check it out.
