It should operate the same, but use random fruit (preferably an apple or watermelon) instead of plasma projectiles.   I think it stays within the humorous, and not so serious nature of TTT.  Besides what inspired Newton to formulate his theory of gravity?

Bad suggestion?

On a semi-related note, I think it should be silent.

Use fruit as the projectile. AKA have the Newton Launcher shoot fruit at people.

It doesn't use real projectiles, just tracers (like guns). I can't easily make it use models without opening a can of worms. Issues like lag making it harder to hit people. I kind of like the idea behind it though, so I'll think about it.

I would prefer to not be launched, thank you very much.

If all else fails, a sprite of spinning apple to replace the tracer with would work wouldn't it?

Though, I might have an idea of how you could pull it off with a model. I haven't played TTT recently to really know the details about the gun in question so if I am totally off about something please excuse me, but would it be possible to modify the AR2's secondary orb attack and implement it for this gun? I know the AR2 secondary fire uses an animated model for the projectile. If you were able to just speed it up dramatically and make it dissipate instantly after it hits something with no effects it could work right?

1200+ hours in Source SDK, and the Source engine is still a mystery.

That's something I considered doing when I first made the gun, but it has different characteristics than the current setup. Right now it fires a spread of 'bullets', and each bullet that hits contributes independently to the amount the player is pushed. Longer range means less of your bullets are likely to hit, means the push will be weaker. At the same time the bullets hit instantly so your target can't dodge out of the way.

Anything with a real projectile will behave very differently, like allowing your target to dodge (and weird lag situations will start to occur in that context), and not having as clear a mechanism for losing strength at range.

The question really isn't how it could be pulled off with a model. That's the simple part (even though it's significantly more complex than the current system). The problem is that, as I said in my previous post, it opens a can of worms with regards to game mechanics.

If it is instant, maybe instead of worrying so much about the projectile, but for every "hit" there's an apple debris model that is spawned and then fades after a short time. That way we can look over see a streak of red and the apple bouncing off the player model.
