Here's a few suggestions:

1.  Perhaps add some frame work above the door as illustrated in the following image?
http://api.ning.com/files/hqqx3JR-BtTT1cH8f4XNfecckWvDApqLL6HfW-U0e*V5iZUwTYELdTM5ncAoZMcu1Vrc2VHQmYu9sxXvditMDzxVi2vKRTcK/house1.jpg

2. Maybe try variations of bricks and plaster textures on the outside of your home?
Maybe these images might help:

3. Experiment with various texture sizes, (not just default: 0.25). Try going lower (0.10) or higher.

Have a try at these options and see if they appeal to you.
Wow, my first post with no bold.

Cheers for these, I'll probably add a overhang outside the bedroom and put a patio underneath it similar to the brick suburban home.

Hey Goldendeed, sorry for not responding earlier, my apologies. I took a look at your map and its quite simply stunning. Your architecture is highly-detailed and well thought out. Great use of texturing and model placement!

This is a keeper for sure. I'll be happy to use this house within the neighborhood.

In the future when I integrate your home into the neighborhood, I may need to re size your home due to its "L" shape formation. I'll keep all the original architecture but the garage might be moved or what not.

I'm not too sure if I need do this at this point but just to forewarn you, this could potentially occur.

Just a friendly question:
Once again, great job! Would you mind if I post screen-shots for the other users to inspire them further?

Here is Goldendeed's submission of his Suburban house. I'm not too sure if this is his finalized submission but it looks well constructed nonetheless.

Provided Before you are a few screenshots as well as a small 1 minute video walk-through of the home. Great Job once again Goldendeed!

Gotta say, if that's the size of your template it's pretty small - I was expecting a 2-floor with possible attic or basement, not a ranch.

Thanks for the comments guys,

@AndyTheGeeky,

It may seem small but thats just because i took a bunch of photographs of a real house, and thats pretty much the exact same size it was. but i didnt measure.

@Silverstream,

I can edit it to your liking? i can make it all smaller and such if you want, just notify me on this thread.

Goldendeed, your home truly is artistic and well-detailed however if you could move around some brushwork to have it structured more towards a suburban home like those within the pics from this post, I believe it would fit the neighborhood a lot better.

I'm not saying you need to start fresh, I merely suggest you perhaps merge a few rooms, rotate/adjust walls and flooring and structure your home accordingly.

Here's a few suggestions:

1.  Perhaps add some frame work above the door as illustrated in the following image?
http://api.ning.com/files/hqqx3JR-BtTT1cH8f4XNfecckWvDApqLL6HfW-U0e*V5iZUwTYELdTM5ncAoZMcu1Vrc2VHQmYu9sxXvditMDzxVi2vKRTcK/house1.jpg

Sorry for double-posting.

Updated First Post As of April 19th 2010 regarding house construction guidelines.

After pondering whether windows should be only the model used within the dev_house.vmf, I've decided to change this guideline.

- You are not restricted to using the window model within the dev_house.vmf for your windows.
         Feel free to create your own windows or use other existing window models.

I'm sorry for not posting this earlier. You still have just over half a month (16 days) to finalize and submit your homes.

Best of luck to the construction of your homes!

I have successfully received your email Tyrant T100.
If possible, do you mind if I make a few texture adjustments and alignments regarding your submission? I may also modify some brushwork.

Please know that this will not dramatically change your submission and you still preserve the right to have me either alter or leave your submission as it is.

That's absolutely fine for you to make some alterations, out of interest which textures needed altering.
