Whenever I'm in spectate mode rooms which the person being spectated hasn't yet entered but can be seen from the outside appear as blank, I tried several things, but nobody could help me. I believe it wasn't from the start.

1) Is the server a vanilla server (No addons, doesn't have a * after the gamemode name when you type status in console or view the server with right clicking on it's name)
2) Screenshots would help explain.

I think he means like when you look into a door and its just black when your specing someone. Ive seen it to.
Im thinking it has something to do with area portals, but i never understood them, so im not sure.

It's because of area portals. Nothing you can do about it. Silly source engine.

Area portals are a good thing.

Yes, it stops from rendering the whole map at once which could equal but rape for some computers.

So you can't turn it off? And yes, that's what I mean, good example is the light house.

Yeah, I know it's not the name of the map. But it's really easy to see it with the lighthouse. And no, it isn't your GPU as I possess one of the latest high-end cards ;)

There is an easy fix which is to set the spectator's position to the spectatee's position in think.

It's just that you'd think the engine would do this properly.

Oh well, presumably I can just parent the spectator player to the spectatee. I'll put it on my list.
