Yeah there needs to be a dead end at some point, but say a building should have more than one entrance/exit, be it multiple doors, windows, roof etc. The biggest problem with loads of maps is that areas dont have enough escape routes, so you take one shot as a Traitor and instantly everyone knows where it came from / there is no escape without a teleporter.

Clue is the best example of this. Its a tiny map with individual rooms, but it actually works because of the secret tunnels.
2  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: pp_PixelRender on: December 21, 2011, 07:49:51 AM
Well unban requests for these reasons can be made, but why would they bother? lol players are players they should not try and "warn us" against an exploit/ hack by trying it warning has better methods.

They dont need to do anything with it, just see that its enabled. I'm just saying it seems silly to ban people just for typing the command, they could just be seeing if it is enabled.

Funnily enough I found out about this ages ago when some guy came on my server and tried it, then told me.
3  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: pp_PixelRender on: December 18, 2011, 08:14:07 PM
This was a known thing on ECG for the longest time, in fact im pretty sure we still have an automatic ban on this command as there is no reason for anyone to use it in TTT, also this is a useful tool for testing scripts and various things on the fly just saying.

What if someone does it purely to see if it is on the server so they can warn the owners?

I just do
SendLua('concommand.Remove("pp_PixelRender")')
in some other code that gets sent to the client.

4  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: ttt_print_damagelog Suggestion: Record Item Purchases on: November 04, 2011, 02:18:44 PM
Indeed, it isnt too hard to add equipment buys to the log yourself if you really must, but I believe BKUs stance on this is that he wont add it because its stupid that so many servers have admins step in and use powers over every tiny little thing.

Though I agree somewhat, I still think its useful, I do believe that admins shouldnt intervene unless totally necessary because thats what karma is for, its useful to find people using things like Sethhack because you know that they actually bought the item.

Some people like custom content even if they have seen it a millions times, sometimes the same old custom stuff + a good community is all you need

@nrich- I agree

Not saying custom content shouldn't be used at all, just it isnt gonna give his server some unique spin on gameplay like it seems he wants in OP.
6  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: TTT Server Suggestions on: October 31, 2011, 05:01:52 PM
Dont mean to bursty any bubbles, but custom weapons and stuff isnt really going to make any server anything special, it takes 5 minutes to join someone elses server and take the lua for all of their custom guns. If you dont have a good coder that will make bespoke scripts unique to the server then you are going to have a hard time getting any really decent custom content.

TTT is TTT at the end of the day, if you buy a good enough server (Not with a cheap ass provider that is run by 15 year olds who overload the box and it lags out at peak times), have decent rules/admins then people will come back to play. There are plenty of people that will just join any server that has a good amount of people in, but there is a lot of competition between TTT servers for players as well, and people are blindly loyal to the one they regularly play on (We get loads of members from other communities with TTT servers that come into our server and ghost/rdm)

I'll give it a whirl then, uploading now.
8  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: [RELEASE] TTT_Forest_b3 on: September 13, 2011, 04:22:40 PM
Looks like this hasnt been given much love. I'll fire up Garrysmod now and give it a look. If I like then I'll put it straight up on Mogz.

*EDIT*

I like it, its detailed and looks like it could be fun.

I only have one problem which makes me reluctant to put it on the server...The map is essentially split into three areas, but there is no other way to travel between them other than the paths. With 16-20 players, this causes the problem of traitors not being able to use their weapons and get away without anyone seeing them, it would be much better if there was some sort of simple tunnel system which connects the areas via underground.

Other than that it would be great, just right now it is only really suitable for 5-10 players imo.

I like how at the end it says "TTT is one thing, but PERP is more serious"
10  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: No game mode and maps not downloading. on: September 07, 2011, 05:30:13 PM
You sure cl_allowdownload is set to 1?

Also do you have anything which might block FTP/HTTP protocols? (Firewall, Peerblock etc)
11  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: [SLA] Trouble In Terrorist Town | FastDL ( Achievements, Shops, Gore) on: September 01, 2011, 04:20:39 PM
This doesn't really need my opinion or comment, but you should make sure they're with SLA first (I've seen people who put on fake clan tags just to cause drama, it was actually pretty funny at the time). And even if they are, they don't represent SLA itself.
Although it does seem that it's starting to get a bad reputation from it's owner...

I searched their SteamIDs and they had been accepted on the SLA forums, I wouldnt have posted it if I didnt know for sure.
12  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: [SLA] Trouble In Terrorist Town | FastDL ( Achievements, Shops, Gore) on: September 01, 2011, 01:12:09 AM
Dont want to turn this into a flame war or anything but I have overall had bad experiences with SLA members.

They often come on our TTT server in groups, sometimes with changed names, and ghost/RDM.  '| SLA | Fatal1ty' and '| SLA | Nightfall' came in two days ago with a bunch of people and a few of them (Including Fatality) turned on their aimbots and went on a rampage. They did it one each round so only one of them got banned each round, so someone else could toggle on to ruin the next...We had about 6 rounds ruined by them doing this.

If SLA are aware of these people going on other TTT servers and trying to disrupt gameplay, then its pretty pathetic really.
13  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Crusher Trap on: September 01, 2011, 01:06:02 AM
Go to the main TTT site and download the example pack under the mapping section, that has a whole bunch of working trap examples that you can open up in hammer and look at.
14  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Poltergeist Brainstorming Thread on: May 08, 2011, 12:18:39 PM
There you go. Got your answer. Exactly the way devastating weapons work in games. Just because you don't have the patience, of fail to see its uses doesn't mean it should be changed.

I dont know if this was aimed at me but I was agreeing that it shouldnt be changed ;o

15  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Poltergeist Brainstorming Thread on: May 07, 2011, 08:37:58 PM
Poltergeist is devastating, but its massively situational.

Sometimes I have gotten 4-6 people with it on maps with closed spaces, by either placing it on props near crowds of people or dropping it on top of bodies to get easy kills on detectives. If you use it properly then it can damage a whole group of innocents without giving you away.
16  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: [RELEASE] The Traitor's Handbook: (ITS HERE) on: May 05, 2011, 02:53:28 PM
No offense but I dont really think anyone would particularly want to reupload it, I could probably write a more comprehensive and useful guide in 10 minutes or less.

The first paragraph is you talking about yourself.

The second paragraph basically says 'use teamwork', which is said in the F1 guide as well as at the bottom when you become a traitor. The acronym isnt exactly funny or useful.

The third paragraph gives an entirely situational example, which is limited to only the server you play on (Since very few or no other servers will have that item), and one extra example of what you can do to kill a bunch of innocents.

So thats one 'tip' throughout the entire thing that could be used on any server, which is pretty obvious on its own anyway (Everyone get weapons, all open fire at once)

17  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Huge Server Problem. on: May 03, 2011, 06:13:09 AM
Are you sure you are also connecting to the fastdl with an ftp client and uploading all of the maps into a maps folder on it?

In respect to your question about the Golden Gun. http://ttt.badking.net/custom-weapon-guide
18  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Suggestion: Broadcasting last words. on: May 01, 2011, 11:48:52 PM
Would be too easy to abuse by people just typing it to get others killed, it also turns it into a habit to hit it, meaning pretty much everyone will always know last words instead of having to think about it and take a look themselves.
19  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Starting Server on: April 29, 2011, 07:34:22 PM
But if you dont host a server you will never learn. :\

Then again, if you arent capable of using Google and the wiki to set a server up and need other people to hold your hand maybe you shouldnt have a server :P
20  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Working quickly on: April 29, 2011, 01:21:44 PM
tl;dr

Kill more people faster, go on a rampage if detective has DNA, ask teammates to help you gangbang.
