Server was great and pretty fun when only people from the forums were on (1 pubber?) But as soon as a few left, every single person left, including the admins. It went to shit after that without admins.
Pretty cool how with 20 admins not a single one wants to stay on to actually admin.

It might be an idea to have a way of switching between "forum game" and "not forum game" server configs. Like when a forum game starts an admin runs a command that loads a forum.cfg that disables karma etc. Then when it winds down someone runs a command to load pubbies.cfg that puts it on more strict settings again.

I could write a small lua script that does this if it seems like a useful thing.

Goes in /lua/autorun/server/

This adds two commands: "forumgame" and "pubbiegame".

The server starts in pubbiegame mode, meaning it sets things to the PubbieGameSettings as they're specified in the script. An admin can run the "forumgame" command to switch the settings to be looser (karma off etc). They carry over when the map changes etc. It could include a sv_password as well for example. When people start leaving, an admin can run "pubbiegame" to put the settings back to a stricter config. It should just work with exsto admin status stuff.

If you look at the script, adding more cvars should be straightforward. It wasn't possible to use .cfg files, because Lua isn't allowed to perform the "exec" command. Any setting that is changed in forum/pubbie mode should not be set in the server.cfg 'cause that will override it.

See if it's useful in practice. I could probably make it automatically go into pubbie mode if there are no admins present, but let's see if it works out at all first.

Along with that, I'm trying to set up a MYSQL database using Gm_MySQL v7 - OO edition because apparently that's how all the cool servers store information and exsto works better with one. Problem is I don't really know what I'm doing and they don't provide any readily available tutorials.

The basic exsto install info says it should work fine with gmod's default sqlite, which is also an SQL database and lets you do much of the same. I can't really think of any reason why you'd need mysql actually, unless you're looking to access data stored in the database from a website. So I personally wouldn't bother unless there's a specific exsto plugin you want that requires it.

All I want it to do is take a list of STEAM IDs and make them admins like ULX/Sourcemod does. I asked in the thread and apparently exsto only does that by MYSQL or manual adding, unless the guy who answered me was just some retard.
