With the latest garrys mod update with the utilization of the 2010 orange box engine you can now change your name in game without the need to rejoin the server.
This has lead to some players generally changing there name to say [insert name here] is the traitor! i have not seen this but other admins have so is there a way to disable this in the game mode via an update or something i can change in the server config to get this disabled?

Yes Phoenix i would kick them or warn them and then kick/ ban them but something like this would require an admin in the servers to stop the "ghosters" not that admins are not available but it would be much easier if there was a setting to disable etc.

The latest TF2 update came with an engine update: "Removed an exploit that allowed people to change their names to something other than their Steam profile name".
So I would expect it to be fixed now (after a server update, obviously).

And if they change their steam profile name, it changes ingame automatically. Gotta block that :|

Lots of people on Facepunch are complaining about it, so I hope garry & co fix it in gmod. I can't do a whole lot about it. Even kickbanning people who have a changed name (which would require a check every tick, urgh), and blocking the "dude changed his name" chat message, will still show their name to everyone in the "player has disconnected" chat thing.

Ah I was going to pm you about this, I didn't want to post it on the forum but it's more widespread than I thought.
Yeah well hopefully someone can fix this soon, but anyway if someone does this a server admin can easily give them a permanent ban.

i only see like 3 servers for TTT, and im banned from them all for "RDM'ing" i suspected a player who wasa admin of being a traitor because he shot someon, i killed him and i got banned :l and then i joined the others and was banned too guess they were connected :l

At least you get a chance to explain your actions on my server... I HATE to see people get banned for ludicrous reasons, on many many servers it happens all the time, and, im afraid, it gets my blood boiling. :|

Doesn't mean that i'll ban you lol. I just have rules, and stick to them. I dont have a ban command at the moment either, garry broke it, and i cba to fix it until minges overload me xD
