I'm gonna cut to the chase: I think the knife should do 90 damage instead of one-hit kill. Not only will it require a bit more skill for the traitor (because it's really way too easy right now), but I think players (especially detectives) will feel a lot less jipped when they are stabbed.

Discuss?

Well, I really do believe the knife needs to take more skill. As it stands,
the knife is a really frustrating weapon to die to
mostly because there's usually nothing you could have done to avoid it, and the killer didn't really put much effort into it. In fact, as a traitor, it's pretty much 1 knife = 1 kill (= 1 unhappy player), so it's a pretty popular weapon because of how reliably and easily you can use it.

Anyone got ideas on how to make it require more skill?

I agree to nerf, not to damage. I think the time it takes to equip it should be increased leading for more stealth oriented kills instead of knife being a get-out-of-jail-free card

You could just make it do the CSS alternate knife animation which is longer to stab them with.

Don't touch the knife.

As it stands, you need to run up to someone to use it and melee them - If you miss, you're probably going to be detected by said person and start to have resistance on you.

Throwing it is... Well. You should all know how that tends to work by now. (See; Badly)

The knife is tricky to use and it's only one use. It's a fairly sure-fire kill, yeah, for one credit and you can only get it once.

Is it necessaryly fun for the innocents? Shut up. Dying isn't all that fun, it's just how the gamemode has to work.

Why would you ever not throw the knife?


It has better hit detection and range, you can throw it from afair into a crowd and even if you don't hit someone everyone is gonna freak out and think their partner is the traitor and tried to stab them.

I tend not to throw the knife at the moment, due to the range of the knife when thrown is like throwing it when you suffer from Muscular Dystrophy. If the Range was improved, I'd throw it more often, otherwise it isn't worth the inaccuracy and risk.

One example, I was on a map last night, and I had to aim a very high ark just  to throw 3-5 meters away and I couldn't see my target properly.

Result? My fellow traitor got the flying knife instead.
