So I was finally able to test it, and it seems that is still does not work, its like it was before. Still missing all the textures etc.

Then you probably didnt do it right.

You need to open "Counter-Strike Source Shared.gcf", then copy the maps/materials/models folders to your garrysmod/garrysmod folder.

Yeah I just tried it again, but to no avail.
Has anyone actually tested this, or does it work "in theory"? Because its not working for me.

It DOES work. The reason you cant see anything in-game is because the textures are missing and CS:S isnt mounted, putting them into the right folders will fix it.

Make sure you arent putting them in the wrong place, ie make sure they are in like garrysmod/garrysmod/cstrike/materials, they MUST all be in the correct folders in garrysmod/garrysmod.

Check if you have all of the CSS maps in garrysmod/garrysmod/maps to see if they are in the right place.

Copying the following from Counter-Strike Source Shared.gcf doesn't work?
    [li]cstrike\maps --> garrysmod\garrysmod\maps[/li]
    [li]cstrike\materials --> garrysmod\garrysmod\materials[/li]
    [li]cstrike\models --> garrysmod\garrysmod\models[/li]

Ah that was a mistake, I was meant to say make sure they ARENT in garrysmod/garrysmod/cstrike.

Ta Andy, I couldnt think of a way to put it.

I can verify that all the file are copied exactly like Andy has stated. Has anyone actually tested this other than me? It still does not work.

Copy files into folders (just like Andy stated), then start up garrysmod and enjoy my purple EVERYWHERE. Its not so bad, sometimes I can see people better, and C4 is a big error sign.

It works for me. I just copied them to the correct location and thats it...

Btw. If you do it multiple time, does it ask you to overwrite? Because if it doesn't, and you have done it multiple times, then the problem is from copying...

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't. Wait, what?

Yes it asks to overwrite. I assure you, they are in the correct places. Im going to attempt to put them in accountname/counter-strike source/cstrike and see if that works.

Im going to try make garrysmod think that I actually own the game by copying the entire contents of "steamapps/user1/counter-strike source/" into "steamapps/user2/counter-strike source" + the GCF file. That way it will be pretty much like the other account "bought" it. (But it wont be playable).
So Ill let you guys know how that goes.

Wont make a difference.

The user/counter-strike source folder is used to store settings and other stuff that is saved on a per user basis. ALL of the content is stored in the GCFs.

I have an idea!

Buy CS:S since its on sale and stop 'pirating' the game's content.

Well its not pirating the content he has the content on a different steam account the problem being is getting one set of content to work on another, but i have nothing useful in this to state as well never done it before, but perhaps at a final push someone who knows what they are doing could perhaps teamviewer (or some other desktop sharing software) attempt it for you assuming they care that much...

Oh, a friend of mine did this. He took a 32gb USB transfered the files from the OLD CS:S then put it in a new CSS file in his game dir, Then he mounted it to gmod.

Then he invited me over and we had some cake (Not kidding)
