The other day I was playing on a server and went to kill a suspected traitor with a pistol. Sadly, it took me 8 shots to killed him, most directly to the head. After that I had around 20 health left, so it was quite a bummer of a game. I suggest: 1) Increased pistol damage or 2) Increased Rate of fire. Otherwise the pistol is a completely useless weapon and you might as well play with a crowbar.

A headshot deals 70+ damage against a target without body armour.

Well either he was lagging out, or he had body armor

I've had this happen before, and have spectated people having this before.
It's lag, and is unfortunately unfixable.

Aa very good example was on DNR when we were playing the tower of terror map.
As we were going up on the ride, I decided to kill the other passenger.
The bullets did not register, and we spent about 12 seconds shooting each other in futility.

Well, responding to the lag issue, I have noticed it as well, especially when I use a deagle or rifle and headshots just don't register.  While I'm not sure what can be done about that, playing stupid in those situations has worked well for me, like shooting up at the sky or ground and pretending to be innocent.

About the pistol balancing? I know it two shots to a target without body armor to the head, and I though this was due to recent balancing- it has seemed stronger lately.  As a sidearm with reasonable damage and good accuracy, I don't see a faster firing rate or more damage balancing needed.  My advice?  Use a primary gun when going for those kills, or the simple deagle headshot.

Besides, can it get anymore balancing without being better than the deagle and overpowered? I don't think so.

Correction - GMod.

Actually, it's not GMod, it's the ticrate of the server/server fps and your ping. Source has no networking problems other than servers not configured properly to settings where things do not register. So what you experience on DNR, is their server, and that alone.

That's why it happens on every server, even with people who have god king computers, and excellent ping?

No your example is not lag (I would know I play on the server and was the one who rearmed Tower of Shenanigans (or terror for the more formal))

THe way the elevator reacts when it is in motion bullets dont seem to register, its not lag, its the ride.  Any time its moving this will happen thats why its always fun to shoot when we go up and down.

"It's not lag, it's the ride!"

A measly fucking ride isn't about to change your god damn hitbox

It's lag, and it's unavoidable.

It's lag due to the ride. It's happened to me as well. So you're both right.
