I've already addressed backstabs earlier in the thread. Summary: not happening. This is not a technical limitation.

Unlocking the knife later in the round has also been discussed before.

Seems like a simple suggestion.  Guessing it would actually be a lot harder to code.

Traitor has to hold down, and "charge" a knife attack for a more powerful swing increasing damage; which may result in a insta kill. Thus the knife becomes a weapon based more on skill, and not tool for a quick easy kill.

Stand round corner, charge, wait, knife. You could spawnkill with that also.

Purely hypothetical.
You charge a full attack which takes say 2-3 seconds, and then have another second to use a full stab otherwise it's just a regular attack.  I was thinking along the lines of the pigstick knife attack in the HL2mod the Hidden. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-692kEyhVdQ#t=0m37s

Could someone get a spawnkill?  Typically spawns have numerous players, so a traitor could get a knife kill yet there's a very high chance of getting caught.

Why not give the knife a bleed out effect since there is no one hit kill anymore. The only means of removing it is if a detective pulls it out

I watched a guy run down this one guy with a knife. He killed them with two stabs, but was shot down 50.
That's a bit disappointing for a traitor weapon used as intended.

Umm if there were enough people to be watching and shooting that traitor then they certain did not use the weapon as intended. It's to kill someone in private who is already wounded.

Get off my lawn you rotten kids!
Nah, he's just being 'correct'. It's just JossiRossi's way of dealing with it.

I don't like the main use for it before.

2 guys... stab one and shoot the other in the head.

Edit: Also its annoying that my local TTT server buffed it back up, but doesn't show custom content so I was like "SAY WHAATTT???"

Let me rephrase this.

I watched A run towards B. They were running down a hallway, and B had no idea about A's presence.
A stabs B once. B slowly turns around and begins shooting him.
A finishes him off as soon as he can after, but not before he's been severely wounded.

I've gotten over the knife withdrawal.

I use a teleporter instead

I'm already used to it.
You just crowbar/shoot once, then stab. Most people don't have enough time to react.

Or just another person, this would be a nice buff for the knife.

And throwing knife should be insta-kill after some distance because it's very hard to get throwing kills with ANY lag.

I like the knife as is. Just want to support the current changes and lobby to keep it about as is.

Just giving this a bump so people see the thread.

Some things I've done to improve the traitor's situation so far:
- Start with 2 credits instead of 1
- Silenced Pistol sound range is quite a bit shorter, ie. it's harder to hear.

If there's another piece of equipment that is currently too weak to be useful because it has too little ammo, for example, or fires too slow, you can suggest it here.

Yep.

ALSO: The newton launcher charge. I think it was implemented so you can choose how far do you want the victim go, not just the max distance. Now to push far, you need to charge the launcher for a few seconds and you'll rarely have time for that because it's so easily spottable. So I suggest that without any charge it goes max distance and if you charge it goes to smaller distances.

Max distance with charging isnt much farther then a normal shot.

If the teleport was even faster it would be instant. I don't think that's necessary.

Regarding Newton: what Darkebrz said.
