Before I get into the issue(s) at hand, yes I do have CS:S installed on the server along with GMod. I have TF2, HL2, DODS, TF2, CS:S, and GMod content all on the server, so I'm 100% sure it's not happening because of missing content.

Floating objects; as the readme states, guns float, grenades don't work either, they just float. The c4 for terrorists don't work either, just floats and you can't arm it.

Prop issue; on all the normal maps (CS:S, TF2, HL2 etc.) you can walk through about 90% of the boxes, I do know that the remakes of some maps are trying to fix that issue, however I was thinking of a different approach to fix the issue. My idea was, since I do have SourceMod on my server, I could either create a plugin to fix player collision groups, or possibly use the Stripper:Source plugin to either remove the boxes, or change their collision group as well. However I'm not sure if all boxes use a similar prop name/property that can easily be used to work as a quick fix rather then debugging every map, finding every box name that you can walk through etc.


The bigger issue of the two is the floating objects though, I can live with walking through the props, but having most of the game not work properly is a bit annoying.

Everything else in the gamemode works fine though.


My server was installed in this order:
Counter-Strike: Source
DOD:S
HL2:MP
TF2
Garrysmod

I left out Portal since it wasn't needed. Does having the other mods except CS:S conflict with this and cause the issues possibly? Or the order they were installed?

In what order were CS:S and GMod installed? It's a long shot, but so far this issue has always been resolved by screwing around with the CS:S install until it worked. Hence, if it's not related to that, I have no idea what could cause it.

Thanks for the response BKU, the original server was installed in the order of the dedicated server guides suggestion on:
http://wiki.garrysmod.com/?title=Dedicated_Server_Setup

So:
CS:S -> DODS -> HL2MP -> TF -> Garrysmod

Then I installed Metamod/Sourcemod, and TTT (newest version).

I've turned off metamod/sourcemod to test if that was the issue, it wasn't.


I have even now reinstalled my server with ONLY CS:S and Gmod in this order:
CS:S -> Garrysmod

And its still having the floating guns issue and such. :( Any other suggestions?

Hmm I seem to have found a fix for it, but I don't think this is really logical, and might be a glitch/bug with Garrysmod.

I had to go into the cstrike folder on the server and literally copy everything into the garrysmod folder.

For example:
D:\myservername\cstrike\models -> D:\myservername\orangebox\garrysmod\models

And had to do it with all the folders that are important.
(maps, materials, models, sound)

Shouldn't Garrysmod be mounting these directories and using their content automatically? It did fix all the issues though, no more glitchy boxes, and guns now drop to the ground. :)

That's weird, it should definitely be mounting and loading that content automatically. Well, at least it works now. Thanks for describing the fix, might be useful to people in the future.

Yeah, not sure why it's not mounting properly, it even says it on the server that it mounted the content as the first chunk of info dumped to the server.

Your issue is not having cstrike in orangebox/
You currently have:

D:\myservername\cstrike\

And TTT installed in

D:\myservername\orangebox\garrysmod\

The correct path for CSS would be:

D:\myservername\orangebox\cstrike.

I have noticed a while back that content outside OB simply doesn't mount, by throwing it in the orangebox folder the issue will be solved.

Odd.. so overall this is a bug with the server itself, and not the default install paths. Thanks for the info though. :)
