1  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: [Server] TGPServ w/ TTT (Vanilla v.28) on: January 01, 2012, 06:06:22 PM
I greatly appreciate the offer Anonymous, but to be honest I'm quite content with what Phpbb has to offer me, I don't really know what your definition of a "proper" website is. I've been more or less dreaming of integrating more and more of my website into the server, such as creating some kind of in game item shop that will be tied to a virtual currency on the forums, or something like that.

Call me a hypocrite for hosting on Windows Server, but I think free software is the way to go (I got server through the dreamspark program anyways). MySQL, Apache, stuff like that is what I've gravitated to.

Anonymous, would you actually be willing to make a skin of some sorts? I have very little experience / aptitude in graphic design, if that's what you're offering. I am sort of curious about how an individual went about "getting" a copy of VBulletin...

I'd just like to let everyone know,

Since I'm going to be gone for an extended period of time, and since there doesn't seem to be much traffic going to the server, I'll be taking it down until the New Year.

Thanks!

I would suggest you update your posts on your forums.  The TTT MOTD topic claims that you have a points system and in-game store (though this was from a few months ago), and from your post here, it would seem that that is no longer the case.

Last year I experimented with using only holiday maps on Christmas and a few of the days surrounding it.  I don't think we really had enough of them to keep things interesting, but if you do, I like the idea.  I believe we used that Christmas town RP map (rearmed), some Nipper Christmas map, and maybe another map or two.  I would suggest just using anything decent with snow on it.  You could do the ones I have described plus cs_office, the two The Thing maps, and probably a few others that I'm forgetting.

It's always nice to see another vanilla server, though.  Good luck to you.

Thanks GrayScare0,

You're absolutely right, that MOTD needs updating. I was playing around with the idea of installing some sort of more CMS-oriented software like Joomla for MOTDs and whatever else struck my fancy, instead of making forum topics...

I believe I do have most of those maps already, amazingly (and of course as many other TTT-playable maps as I could find). That would be difficult to keep things fresh with as many holiday themed maps as there are.

I greatly appreciate the input, thank you!

Website needs fixing, use a better style than the default phpbb style.
Rent a host from a server provider, I'd go with a VPS or a Dedicated Server.

Yeah, website needs work... I'm trying to host without spending any money though. I'm in it for the fun of being able to run a server with people in it, but not to the point where I have to put money into it.
5  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / [Server] TGPServ w/ TTT (Vanilla v.28) on: December 22, 2011, 06:09:38 PM

I've been setting up a vanilla TTT server for awhile, I just wanted to let everyone out there know that I'm hosting one. I have lots of ttt_* maps, some CS:S recharge scripts, as well as more than enough zm maps (some I'm not so sure can really be played with TTT, but what the heck), and I've also thrown in a few RP maps with recharge scripts. To try to get into the holiday spirit, I've added as many winter/Christmas themed maps as I could find :P

The only things you'll be downloading from my server are the map and the lua cache, no other fancy content. I must apologize for my (in comparison to business-line) horrible upload speed. I have about 2,000Kbp/s up on a U-verse subscription, which is good enough for hosting a server, but not for uploading maps. So if people do join, I'll just need people to be patient as others download the map :(

I don't have any specific rules, just the common sense ones are in play.

Thanks for checking this out, happy holidays, and I hope to see everyone there!

(I would appreciate constructive server-hosting criticism from any veteran hosters out there, but again, I can't do much about the upload speed :P)

Alright, that makes sense.

Perhaps this topic could be stickied until Gmod 13 goes live?

Any idea when your patch is going to be pushed out in an update, BKU? I was just having the same issue today, where recharge scripts seemed broken, and your updated lua file fixed everything. Seems like we're just waiting for the update to be pushed to gmod.
8  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Errors while using the TTT Rearming STOOL, and a suggestion on: May 20, 2011, 09:42:04 PM
In a sense, will still be fixing the inevitable problems that occur when GMod updates.

Oh, that's really too bad. Is it just that you don't see any further expandability for TTT, or have you moved onto a new project?
9  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Errors while using the TTT Rearming STOOL, and a suggestion on: May 20, 2011, 08:02:30 PM
You are using the weapon placer in a multiplayer game (ie. used "Start Multiplayer" button when loading the map). It's not built for that, hence the errors.

Ohh, whoops, I missed that little tidbit of information in the tutorial :)

Quote
The suggestion is a nice idea, but I'm not adding more features to anything TTT-related at this point. You can see the number of existing spawns placed by the mapper by executing "find_ent info_player" in the console.

Does that mean you're wrapping up development on TTT entirely?

Quote
Player spawns are added to the existing ones by default, the "replace spawns" option disables that.

Ah, makes sense.

Thank you for the info.
10  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Errors while using the TTT Rearming STOOL, and a suggestion on: May 19, 2011, 09:14:41 PM
I have version 6 (according to the info.txt file) of the TTT Weapon Placer STOOL, and I've been seeing several, while not functionality hindering, persistent errors that popup whenever I place a weapon or ammo kit.

For example, when I place the m16, I will first get an error (in red) saying "Can't find factory for entity: weapon_ttt_m16", and then several lines thereafter repeating "[@weapons\gmod_tool\stools\tttweaponplacer.lua:111] Tried to use a NULL entity!"
This happens for every and all weapons/ammo that I try placing, including the random weapon/ammo entities. This doesn't seem to necessarily break anything, although it is rather annoying to have these errors popping up while I'm trying to rearm a map.

Finally, a suggestion; it would be nice, as an option in the TTT Weapon Placer, to view current spawns set in the current map. My reason for asking this is that I would like to be able to see all of the current spawns, and then be able to decide if I want to add more (which would also be a good feature, rather than completely replacing the spawns).

Thanks!

Right, serverside is what I meant.

Is server.cfg really loaded after the gamemode? Bummer, I was hoping of using the exec function in my startup line rather than that having to go through the server.cfg file.

Thanks anyways though, I'll look into it!
12  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Initiate map voting after end of rounds on: November 09, 2010, 01:05:34 AM
Have you tried the new integrated map-only voting?

fretta_voting 1
ttt_fretta_mapvoting 1

Removes the gamemode part from fretta votes, leaving only maps.

Seriously? I never saw that in the gmod update news :(

I'll give it a try, thanks :D

EDIT:

Oh, quick question, how can I get a config file to execute after the gamemode has been loaded up? I want to make a config file specifically for TTT, but the problem is, gmod executes them before the gamemode has loaded.

EDIT2:
The two cvars work great now, thanks! Do you happen to know anything about the config problem and how to fix it?

Any status on the plugin?
14  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Initiate map voting after end of rounds on: October 26, 2010, 08:19:26 PM
I think all you'd really have to do is use the hooks system, so it should be fine as just an addon.

If you want a server to test it on, we could use mine. (http://tgpserv.game-host.org if you need the website.)
15  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Initiate map voting after end of rounds on: October 26, 2010, 01:06:43 AM
Will it be PUBLIC?

So many specific server only things.. Nothing for communities without developers.

I agree. I'd work on a script for everyone if I had the time.
16  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Initiate map voting after end of rounds on: October 25, 2010, 11:57:53 PM
Something, as in something like this? Will we be able to plug it in, or will it require overwriting TTT files?
17  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Initiate map voting after end of rounds on: October 25, 2010, 07:37:30 PM
I think it would be nice if, rather than cycling the maps, TTT initiated a map vote at the end of a game. (Also, as a bonus, it would be nice if it had RTV functionality.)

I know you can edit a few things to use Fretta's map vote, but I sometimes run my server with the intention to cycle gamemodes as well, so I'd rather not have to edit anything.
18  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Interest in developing TTT into a full-fledged Source mod? on: October 08, 2010, 09:28:27 PM
Darn, saw "October", and posted right away.

I wonder what the status is on this anyhow?
19  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Interest in developing TTT into a full-fledged Source mod? on: October 07, 2010, 08:52:29 PM
That gun is bloody awesome.

Couldn't have said it better  myself.

I think the maker of Parasite actually dropped their gamemode to go off on a Sourcemodding adventure for the same gamemode, I don't know where that went. But TTT as a sourcemod would be win.

Download is gone :S

Could ZombieMaster.org possibly make a "map gallery"?
