Maybe let the DNA sampler immediately find the name of a target if 2-3 items are found with DNA? On that subject, the lack of passive items for detectives has always disturbed me. He should be able to buy items like magneto-stick upgrades for the entire Terrorist team (god I don't know).

Loud, certainly, but the barrage of bullets I've always found to be incredibly intimidating and each hit blinds the victim more and more. It's impossible to use in more than close range, but it's far from useless.

Binoculars
I previously gave a 30 minute post on how I thought binoculars should be in the game, but should not identify the body. Instead they provide an aesthetic zoom function and the ability to identify TYPES of damage at range, e.g. discovering if a corpse was killed by a shotgun, or a knife, from across a hallway. Nobody got back to me on how they felt about that. Personally I find it balanced and fits into the TTT atmosphere. Can someone else please provide feedback?

Camera
I disagree. That feels too "USE THIS ITEM AND CRIME SCENE IS TOLD TO YOU" instead of actually having to make organized claims with evidence you have. An item like that that feels more involved to the detective to me would be the Garry's Mod toolgun that can fire a destroyable camera that uploads video to the back of the toolgun. Seems possible, as some scoped gun models for HL2 have the scope zoomed in. It all depends on Urgrain's direction with the game in the future.

I stand by my opinion on making the draw time period 1-1.5 seconds longer, or a half-a-second interval from the player pressing M1 to a kill. It seems to me traitors would be very upset with good reason if the knife got a damage nerf, and the thing innocents truly hate about it is the fact that the traitor can pull it out and throw it across a room for an instant, silent kill in a freakishly fast time period. To me it feels like a slower draw time would force the traitors to require more finesse, encouraging stealth and gaining trust instead of the ever-prevalent situation where the traitor merely has to get in sight of a barricaded target and throw a knife at him in less than half a second. Many of those situations feel more intense when the traitor is armed with a silenced pistol, letting the said barricaded person to have a lot more fun in the sequence where he dies. As is, on servers with <6 people, the answer is obviously to pick a knife because it's unlikely you'd be able to get more than one or two silenced pistol kills.

I agree to nerf, not to damage. I think the time it takes to equip it should be increased leading for more stealth oriented kills instead of knife being a get-out-of-jail-free card

Signed up to throw in two cents : I think binoculars that -identify- corpses seem too overpowered and unbalanced. Moving towards corpses in order to ID them while under the constant threat of being backstabbed is part of the atmosphere of TTT - and binoculars would hurt that atmosphere. On some maps, like Camel, ranged identification can detract from gameplay and suspense. Perhaps the binoculars could search a body from range but only reveal _what_ killed them? For example, searching bodies floating in water could reveal if the victim simply drowned or was dumped by the traitors after being sniped. This, to me at least, seems to balance the binoculars out with the rest of the current detective items. A zoom function would be nice, if only for aesthetics and common sense.
While I'm here I might as well throw in other input. I think that detectives should have some more items that are less useful to the detective and more useful to the innocents around him. Such as items purposefully meant to be given to other players, like the teleport and defuser sometimes are used. Perhaps this is too overused, but adrenaline that would temporarily boost speed by 40% or something. Also, maybe the beacon item should provide two beacons of different colors? Most people playing TTT now know all the maps, and it's easy to just say "come to point A", but several beacons could provide death locations or providing another for a friend.
Just throwing around ideas that sound remotely interesting to me, thanks for reading. Love the mod, one of the most fun and intense experiences I believe I've ever had in an online game!
(Edit : Ideas of an extra light source such as flares from Ep1 comes to mind. Feels rather unnecessary though.)
