A good solution is to not use custom weapons

Even though the gamemode is designed to accommodate modification and custom material? And even includes a PSD to create your own icons with?

It's a pretty simple question I think, assuming others have run into this same small snag as I have.

The purple checkerboards indicate a missing texture. The texture in question is /garrysmod/materials/VGUI/ttt/custom_marker.vmt (and .vtf). It's present in the .zip and is properly set to auto-download. Hence, I would theorize the server you are taking that screenshot on has not updated their fastdl/sv_downloadurl or server properly.
