Maybe a little alpha slider in the f1 settings?
2  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Huge glitch with karma system. on: September 07, 2010, 09:34:47 PM
Karma is based on damage done, and for the most part, it works out fine.

But what does not work out fine is how the damage is converted into karma.

It counts all damage done to your team and reduces your karma a certain amount per damage.(not entirely sure of the ratio).

But here is the thing that is messed up, it counts ALL damage including the overkill damage.

So if you headshot an inocent with a deagle or rifle, instead of losing karma for 100 life points, you loose karma for exactly how much damage you did.

I once killed 2 traitors, and then the detective and remaining traitor were fighting, I shot at the traitor and my first shot hit an explosive barrel that killed them both. I didn't mean to kill the detective, but I did kill him, so I would expect some karma loss. Instead I went from full karma to 150 karma, or 10 karma. All I know is that next round I KNEW someone was a traitor and I shot him in the face with two clips of MAC 10 fire, and could not kill him. I was then banned after that because they thought I was RDMing really badly.

I think most people would agree that you should not be further penalized for damage over 100 per person.
3  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: C4 additional ideas on: September 07, 2010, 09:26:20 PM
Detectives do it so when the detective dies, the traitor does not get a free C4. If I find a C4 I tell everyone that I am planting it on the corner of the map and to tell everyone to stay away.
4  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Costom weapons wont work on: August 04, 2010, 06:08:36 PM
well it's just the ak47 does not show up when i as traitor use the context menu to buy weapons or so ...

-----EDIT------

fixed it ^^

Tell us how you fixed it in case anyone else has the same problem and finds the forum post about it.

I cannot tell you how frustrating is to have a problem, google search for the answer, and to find posts of people who are asking the same question, and then instead of telling how they solved it, they just say that they figured it out, or its fixed.

Delete the TTT files and redownload?
6  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Hit Detections? on: July 19, 2010, 08:46:03 PM
No, I have been noticing hit detection issues lately. It could have been caused by a GMOD update, but I think it has been caused by too many servers running with an increased player limit, and for some reason it "misses" shots that should have hit.

Like me running 5 feet behind a detective and shotgunning him strait in the back. Didn't even hurt him.
7  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: I know how to win the TTT meta-overworld-game!!!! on: July 15, 2010, 08:05:53 AM
I am saying that I am not hacking, and I never have, but I have been banned from two servers because I was too good and they though I was hacking.
8  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / I know how to win the TTT meta-overworld-game!!!! on: July 15, 2010, 06:54:31 AM
You have to get banned from every available listed server for doing so good that you get banned for hacking.

I was banned on the Militant Atheist server for "aim-botting", which in actuality was me as a T  killing 4 people with a Deagle then dieing.

I was now banned on the ConvictGaming servers and all the servers that share the ban because for "playing with no recoil", which in actuality is me having my sensitivity so high up that a 360 is 3 inches, and keeping the barrel of a huge level is pretty easy with this mouse, just a slow movement down.

So yeah, to finnally beat TTT for good you have to get banned for being falsely accused of hacking on every known server.

"Bind {Key} "ttt_radio traitor""
"{Person being pointed at} is the traitor!"

Sly is the traitor!
Sly is the traitor!

I don't really think it would break the balanced that much.

Lots of players, play the game successfully without using voice.
It would just make people to use the suit zoom messages more, and possibly people would even start paying attention to them.

I have just bound a button for "[name] Is the Traitor." and spam that, and it usually works if i get more than one lines of it spammed.

Also If there would be a whisper voice, there also should be an option for local chat.
So there would not be even more advantage to people who use mics.

I disagree on the traitors not having an advantage. Traitors can kill people and if you are over 30 feet away you cannot hear the person screaming for help. That alone gives some advantage to the traitors, and its why servers don't run it, that is their excuse for not running that.

But I am interested in how you bind a key to say traitor, do tell please.

Wait, you are testing adding it as a whisper button? Or just running it?
13  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Now that we have locational audio implemented... on: July 13, 2010, 02:36:25 AM
Almost no servers run it, because just enabling locational audio give the traitors a huge advantage that is not present in normal servers, if you find anyone slightly separated from the group you can kill them without anyone being able to hear them scream "YourName IS A TRAITOR", and no one knows they are dead. I find that vanilla TTT is pretty well balanced, and this just obviously breaks the balance.

Would it be possible to add whispering to TTT?

And by that I mean, keep the current "radio" style talking with no audio changes, but add a separate "whisper" button to talk using the positional audio.
14  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Garry broke listen server game mode button! on: July 08, 2010, 10:56:23 PM
I got a reply from Craig Gwilt from Facepunch Studios and he said it has been fixed and will be in the next update.

I cannot figure out what props I am allowed to use.... I was told to use CSS props, but I only had 150 for some reason. So exported all the other props and materials with GFCScape. I put them in the css folder and I got all the props in hammer. After I exported the level they show up as ERROR in hammer. So I exited gmod and copies the materials and props from  css  to gmod, but I still get errors in game.

Can anyone help me?
16  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Mapping Q&A on: July 08, 2010, 03:44:14 AM
Anyone know if it is possible to change the damage done by certain things to func_physbox_multiplayer objects? Cause I want to have some stuff be barely damaged by bullets but still take full fall damage.
17  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Garry broke listen server game mode button! on: July 08, 2010, 02:38:38 AM
Clicking the game mode drop down box does nothing other than put this error into the console:

"
Warning: vgui.Create failed to create the VGUI component (DMenuOption)
Lua: addons\derma\lua\vgui\dmenu.lua:84: attempt to index local 'pnl' (a nil value)

I already sent an email to the Garry's mod support, but I did find a work around on the facepunch forums.

The only way I have to change the gamemode is launching a map and selecting changegamemode <map> <gamemode>

http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=23181605

Or what I just figured out on my own is you could probably use the override command below it to set the game mode to "terrortown" Edit: I just confirmed this as working. So probably do this.

EDIT2: Overide works when making the server, but resets with a map change. Use "changegamemode map terrortown"

18  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: [Idea] Whispering or some kind of proximity based voice chat. on: July 07, 2010, 08:23:15 PM
Despite the "Broken Garrys mod update", around 20 minutes ago I tested out locational voice chatting via "ttt_locational_voice 0/1 default: 0" using TTT Version 02-07-'10 in my server with a few people.

Everything seemed to be working fine. Our voices faded in and out as they should rather than simply cutting out completely.

Before testing this, I was told locational voice wasn't working. Apparently it is :D.

What is your server, I want to come by to check out the positional audio, as the servers I went on to last night were unwilling to try out positional audio.
19  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / [Exploit] Custom servers with insta traitor choosing on: July 07, 2010, 08:17:19 PM
Some servers choose the traitors almost immediately after the round starts, those same servers run Jihad bombs most of the time.

It would be easy as pie to buy a jihad really fast and insta detonate while everyone is in spawn winning the game immediately for the traitors.

Yes I know that it is not a vanilla TTT problem, but I figured this would be the best place to post it.
20  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: [Idea] Whispering or some kind of proximity based voice chat. on: July 06, 2010, 06:08:34 PM
Well we now can enable positional audio that is global! YAY.

I still think would be cool to have this feature under a separate button, so you can talk to everyone if you want to, but you can also talk to people next to you, but I don't know if that is possible to have both modes mixed.
