In regards to the DNA Scanner, I really like how it works right now, but I have to agree with how open and vulnerable it leaves you while you're using it.
Perhaps an easier way would be to have the menu close when a key such as WASD is pressed, or you click outside of the menu? Just a thought, having to click "Close" in the menu is what bothers me the most.

Just tried this, it seems to happen whenever I spawn it inside of a building, that's really weird.

Well im pretty sure that's one of the main drawbacks of the dna scanner, being so vaunerable. But having it close with WASD would be nice.

thought on armor for detectives: since the beacon is honestly not that useful, maybe make the beacon project a shield around it of some sort that absorbs some damage, but grenades, knives, ect. can go right through it.

You could also make it beep when the shield is hit, and display the location of the hit on the shield in some way, this could help against the dreaded sniper traitors who just snipe at a group and are never found. It would reduce the damage, and make it so you can get an idea of where the sniper is.

i still like my tranquilizer idea lol :P it seems to have gotten smothered in other posts.

new detective weapon ideas:

name: "Tranquilizer gun"

model: crossbow

description: similar the the spy's version in team fortress classic, slows the person down. However in this one it would also make their view crazy in some way, making it difficult to aim.

main uses: If you strongly suspect someone and want to check them out, shoot them with this so you can catch up to them and make sure they don't headshot you

details: people who are under this effect turn green in color entirely (their model) and it lasts for 30 seconds. The gun has 5-7 rounds that take 5 seconds to shoot between each one. They do NO DAMAGE.

Other idea for crossbow:

name: "Disarmer"

model: crossbow

description: a gun that instantly makes the person drop their primary, secondary, and grenade.

main uses: If you suspect someone and want to see all their weapons, or check ammo. If you see a traitor shooting someone just take one shot and all they have is their crowbar, magneto stick, and possibly their traitor euquipment if it applies. If you suspect someone, use this to take them all away from him (if you have an empty inventory).

details: The dropped weapons cannot be picked up by the person who dropped them for 2-3 seconds. The gun holds 7 rounds and does no damage. Not very useful on a person weilding a traitor weapon such as a silenced pistol, flare gun, or knife. People who get hit by this turn a certain color while they cannot pick up their weapons.

you could combine these too, or tweak them however you like. Just some ideas for your consideration BKU.

It would be useful if the traitors were camping, which they never do. Could make a neat detective item though.

a little bit, not so much for that as it is for hiding things and setting traps. If say you put a hidden body in the upstairs of a building on the The Thing, you could place one at the doorway so if a person walks in you can run over there and hopefully kill him before he find the body in the dark corner.

Or if you are sniping and you want to watch your back, place one nearby.

Or even if you want to do the classic unidentified body trap where you kill one person in a dark room, and put him right at the entrance (hopefully at a hallway) and then wait for someone to come and try to identify it, then kill them and add to the pile.

Ok i got this idea from the game hidden: source

Make a laser trip mine (that innocents either cannot see, or make it super small and super hard to see) that gives the person who set it some kind of notification that a person went through it, and if it was a traitor or innocent. It's similar to radar in the fact that you know where people are, but it never has to wait to update.

Pros: instantly know if a person is in an area (and if they are traitor/innocent)
make great traps for innocents
know if a person is near a place where you put a c4/dead body/radio/teleporter location
with radar, you lack depth perception, but not with this (you can't tell if a person is in a room or the one behind it)

cons: only covers small areas
you only get 3 of them
other traitors cannot see your notifications, you must alert your team!

you could always modify this idea, make it do other things, you can decide.

i have used the normal pistol is place of the silenced one many times. It works about 90% of the time, and they always scream that it's a silenced pistol.

No items. Fox only. Final destination.

i like how im the only one who got that. I used to love that video.

anyways, once TDR servers get back up i will test this teleporter out. I will probobly be one of the only people to know about it since no one seems to know how to scroll down on the traitor weapon select page....

Traitor Perk: Cryogenics (Requires 2 credits) - You have a chance of respawning again after being killed.  Only can be used when there are 3 or more traitors.
Uses convars or a math function to control the credits (math + convar, based on how many total credits one can get) and the chance (a percent through convar)

I had an idea for this today. If you have ever played Team Fortress 2 you may know of the dead ringer. I was thinking having the same idea, except making it last 10 seconds, have no de-cloak sound, however only a 50% damage reduction instead of 90% like in tf2. You could make it toggleable like the diguise, and you could make it 2 credits if you like.

OR: just have button you could press to drop a fake body and cloak yourself for 10 seconds, no damage reduction, but only costs 1 credit.

it can only be used once like the knife, and it would need tweaks such as the fake body's properties

just an idea,

12  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: TTT: Admin Mod on: January 06, 2010, 01:35:37 AM
what is found is best is a combonation of ULX and sourcemod. Sourcemod is better for long term bans and permas, and ulx is for slaying, kicking, and overall fun stuff.
13  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Trouble in Terrorist Town - a GMod gamemode on: January 05, 2010, 12:15:07 AM
i'm uploading a video to the TTT video section on the MOD DB profile :D

It's just a video i aleady had on youtube that is pretty funny.

EDIT: nevermind, MOD DB's uploading system is crap!

the radio is hella fun, especially for clearing your name.

i was playing on a map with few scouts on it, and i was sniping the hell out of people. When suddly while i was walking aorund a guy saw me and was about to shoot me since i had the scout, so i used my radio i had placed a longtime ago to make a sound of a scout shot, then a death scream :D

my name was cleared and i won that round thanks to the radio.

lol this sucked, is it gmod or TTT that caused this wtf moment?
17  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Trouble in Terrorist Town - Gmod-based serial killing on: December 16, 2009, 10:15:23 PM
quick bug to report, it is possible to get 20/120 pistol ammo by simply getting an m16 and a pistol, dropping them both into a bunch of pistol ammo, then running through.

In his steam profile he plays gmod the most, so........

EDIT: more: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198005944683 - dragoon's profile confirmed

http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197998168867 - confirmed orange tang's profile

both orange and dragoon are in the "Black ops" group, not zetanor though :/ and black ops is fretta centered. If server owners see fit, ban everyone on this list. (i would personally)
19  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Trouble in Terrorist Town - Gmod-based serial killing on: December 04, 2009, 01:06:28 AM
Wait, are you talking about while they're in the act of disguising, or after? Because if it only happens while they're in the act, I don't really think it should be considered a bug. Just a lucky person catching the traitor doing something traitorous.

While he is disguised, just look at a disguised person with the voice menu up and you know his/her name! D:
20  Other / Trouble in Terrorist Town / Re: Trouble in Terrorist Town - Gmod-based serial killing on: December 03, 2009, 11:02:30 PM
BUG: if someone uses the disguise and an innocent sees them, they can just use the voice menu and say __________ is the traitor, that will display their true name.

also: the whole crossbow making innocents shoot their gun could work if it was a crossbow that fired a black bolt, then 5 seconds after it hit it turned red, then over a period of time it changed from red to orange to yellow to green and then just dissapeared. another idea is that when it is in them your aim is improved on them in some way.
